Carl A. Florey, 62, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Thursday June 8, 1961 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Illinois. He had entered the hospital only the preceding day suffering from a sudden heart attack, but had recently retired after 15 years from the Fountain Foundry in Veedersburg due to declining health. He was born June 19, 1898 near Attica, the son of Richard and Bertha Smith Florey. He was married June 30, 1920 to Mary Jones who survives. They have been owners and proprietors of the Cardinal Cafe in Veedersburg for several years. Other survivors include two sons, Richard of Veedersburg and Wayne of Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mrs. Isabell Auter of Covington, Mrs. Connie VanHook and Mrs. Ruth Suitors, both of Crawfordsville; two brothers, John of Tipton and Clifford of Veedersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Velma Shoaf and Mrs. Carrie Pickett, both of Veedersburg and Mrs. Ruth Linker of Rockville; and 14 grandchildren. A half-brother, Carrol Pinkerton preceded him in death in 1938. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fishero Funeral Home, Veedersburg. The Re.v Samuel Pritchard officiated with burial in Lower Mound Cemetery, near Covington. Mrs. Florey's present plans are to continue the operation of the restaurant business. -- thanks to J.
